For the first time in a vineyard, in Château Puyfromage, the vine stakes were set up fixed by a robot.

A team from the Robotic Department of the University Bordeaux I and the National Centre for the Scientific Research (CNRS) developed for the nursery Duvigneau a robot that can fix the trellis stakes.

This machine received the special prize from the 2014 Vinitech jury.

The robot has on a tiny shovel for which all functions are controlled with a high precision (more than a third of a inch) thanks to sensors and a positioning system such as GPS.

The robot is completely autonomous and positions itself from stake to stake at the precise required spot.

This robot brings major improvements both regarding the safety of the operators and the planting costs.
