The winter was short with an exceptionally mild February. The early bud break (15 days early) of the first buds exposed part of the vineyard to spring frosts (On April 13 and May 5).
The flowering took place in early June, in a cool and humid weather; which generated flower abortion.
From mid-June, dry and very hot weather set in. This early summer weather allowed the vines to grow and fruit set took place in good conditions.
The heatwave, paired with a lack of water, had the vines suffer (water stress), especially the youngest ones.
However, rapid and homogeneous ripening was observed thanks to several rainstorms (end of July) which brought enough water and thanks to more moderate temperatures in early August.
After a very beautiful summer, September, which is a key month for Bordeaux wines , brought ideal climatic conditions for the vineyard. The hot days and cool nights, excellent for the development of aromas, favored optimal maturity with perfect sanitary condition.
The harvest took place from October 2 to 9 in excellent conditions. The harvest was beautiful , but not as big as expected.
The concentration of sugar in the grapes, their phenolic richness and their good acidity are the signs of a great vintage.
The vinification took place at 28 ° C to keep the fruity freshness and elegance.
The harvest of the grapes destined for dry white wines happened relatively early, which protected them from water stress. Sweet, and with an intense aromatic potential, they were collected in perfect sanitary conditions.
The Merlots have charm, the Cabernets have structure. The wines are ripe, rich and aromatic.
The blend produced a balanced wine, structured with a lot of freshness and energy in the fruit. The tannins and acidity are definitely present, giving a real aging potential.
In 2019 the white wine is of an outstanding quality, with a very nice balance, a lot of freshness and a nice acidity.
